Following GTC 2026, UBS analyzed the implications of Nvidia's Groq 3 LPX rack for semiconductor demand. Combining Language Processing Units (LPUs) with Vera Rubin GPUs, the Groq 3 rack improves inference throughput per watt by up to 35 times. Each system contains 256 LPUs totaling 128GB of embedded SRAM, alongside 12TB of LPDDR5X DRAM.
The LPU chips are manufactured using Samsung's 4nm process in South Korea. UBS estimates initial foundry demand at 15,000 to 20,000 wafers per month, though Nvidia may request upward revisions. This demand will compete for capacity with Samsung's HBM4/4E logic substrates and Exynos chips. The 12TB of LPDDR5X DRAM presents an incremental positive for the memory market, involving Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. If 10% of Vera Rubin racks adopt Groq 3, it would represent 0.2% of total DRAM bit demand in 2027; a 30% penetration rate would reach 0.6%.
Ubs maintains positive ratings on memory stocks, designating SK Hynix as a Key Call Buy alongside Buy ratings on Samsung Electronics, Micron Technology, and Nanya Technology. Furthermore, Groq 3 represents a positive catalyst for Samsung Foundry, which UBS expects to reach break-even by 2027.
