At the Communacopia + Technology conference (September 8–11, San Francisco), Goldman Sachs interviewed Autodesk (ADSK) CEO Andrew Anagnost and CFO Janesh Moorjani, focusing on AI positioning, the design-make-operate platform strategy and channel execution. Management argued that after AI lowers modeling barriers, Autodesk's durable value lies in proprietary data, industry context and its role as a system of record and action; it will combine in-house Neural CAD models with open-weight and frontier models, selected by speed, accuracy and cost, orchestrated by a next-generation Autodesk Assistant. Forma represents the cloud-native future of AEC, Fusion offers the clearest validation with rapid growth and share gains, and MaintainX—seen as the cornerstone of the operations portfolio—extends the platform into operations, moving digital twins from informational toward predictive and operational. Demand is broadly stable: strength in industrial, infrastructure and data-center end markets offsets soft commercial construction. After this year's earlier reorganization, sales productivity has normalized in most regions—Western Europe more gradually given later implementation—while renewal rates strengthened as automation cut costs. Autodesk reiterated its FY29 target of 41% non-GAAP operating margin and plans to return about 50% of free cash flow to shareholders annually while preserving M&A flexibility. Goldman reaffirms Neutral and a $265 12-month target (25x SNTM GAAP EPS, unchanged), 28.3% above $206.62.
