Key Views

Unlike March's asymmetric adjustment, both ex-factory and retail prices rose equally, which JPMorgan expects will improve margins from Q3 2026 onward and revalue aged inventory. Faster price adjustments may increase stockpiling timing risk, curtail speculation, and improve channel inventory health. Feitian's wholesale price climbed from RMB 1,660 (July 17) to RMB 1,700 (July 20). On the first trading day post-announcement, Moutai shares gained 6%, while Wuliangye, Luzhou Laojiao, Fenjiu, and Yanghe rose 3–6%. However, wholesale prices for Wuliangye and Luzhou Laojiao did not follow suit, indicating that industry demand remains moderate and competitors still need time to clear inventory.

Outlook

JPMorgan maintains a Neutral rating with a June 2027 target price of RMB 1,420 (20× 2027E P/E, one standard deviation below the 20-year historical average of 24×). The report date price was RMB 1,327.50. Sustained re-rating requires continued DTC progress and clearer recovery in household wealth. The next critical demand window is the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays.
