Goldman Sachs reviewed the latest FTSE China Index Series adjustments following FTSE Russell's completion of its semi-annual review in May 2026, with changes effective after the close on June 19, 2026. The rebalancing is projected to generate approximately $1.2 billion in passive inflows across the index family.

The FTSE China A50 Index is expected to attract roughly $800 million in passive flows, while the FTSE China 50 Index should draw approximately $300 million, and the FTSE China H-Share Index around $100 million. In the FTSE China 50 Index, Meituan and BYD were added, while China Mobile and Ping An Insurance of China were removed, maintaining 50 constituents.

Goldman Sachs estimates that Meituan and BYD additions will generate passive inflows of approximately $120 million and $80 million, respectively. Conversely, the removal of China Mobile and Ping An should trigger outflows of roughly $150 million and $100 million.

The FTSE China H-Share Index added JD.com, NetEase, and Baidu, expected to bring in approximately $50 million, $40 million, and $30 million individually. The removal of PetroChina will cause an estimated $60 million outflow. The FTSE China A50 Index added 15 stocks and removed 5, bringing total constituents to 1,000. Goldman views the overall market impact as limited, though selected stocks may present short-term trading opportunities.
