UBS analyzed March revenue data across 171 Taiwan-listed technology companies and 54 covered names. March sales surged 34% month-over-month, significantly exceeding the seven-year seasonal average of 18%. This outperformance was driven by sustained AI infrastructure strength, early pull-ins ahead of component cost increases, and concerns over Middle East shipping delays. Hardware sales climbed 35.6% month-over-month, outpacing semiconductors at 29.3%.
For Q1 2026, overall Taiwan tech revenue declined only 1.1% quarter-over-quarter, reaching 102% of UBS estimates and 106% of market consensus, which had anticipated steeper declines. Among covered companies, 31 exceeded expectations, 12 met, and 11 missed.
Within hardware, server demand led the upside across ODMs including Quanta, Inventec, Wistron, and Wiwynn. UBS raised its Q1 2026 NVIDIA rack estimate from 14k to 15.7k, with the full-year 2026 forecast increasing from 65k to 67.5k and 2027 projected at 82k. PC shipments benefited from early pull-ins before memory price hikes and new Mac launches, with ODM quarterly shipments down only 10% versus an expected 19% decline.
Semiconductores posted March revenue of NT$654.5 billion, up 29% month-over-month. Foundry sales rose 29%, while back-end packaging and testing declined a modest 2% quarter-over-quarter. UBS favors upstream names leveraged to the AI cycle, recommending TSMC, ASE Technology, MediaTek, and Alchip, alongside hardware ODMs Quanta, Hon Hai, and Wiwynn. Consumer electronics demand remains weak, with full-year PC shipments projected to decline 7% year-over-year.
