According to STR data, Mainland China hotel RevPAR increased 8.5% year-over-year during the week of March 29 to April 4, marking a significant acceleration compared to the 4.5% growth recorded in the prior week. This improvement was driven by a 3.9% rise in average daily rate and a 2.7 percentage point increase in occupancy.

Performance varied notably across hotel segments. Luxury and ultra-high-end hotels posted the strongest results, with RevPAR growing 11% year-over-year. This outperformance stems from limited new supply in the premium segment and robust demand generated by inbound tourism. Conversely, midscale and upper-midscale hotels faced stiffer headwinds, with RevPAR rising only 2% and 10% respectively, as new supply concentrations pressured these market tiers.

In the domestic aviation sector, data indicates capacity expanded by a modest 1% year-over-year between March 30 and April 5. However, passenger volume grew by 4%, pushing the load factor to 81.7%, an improvement of 2.3 percentage points. Domestic airfares surged 10% year-over-year, which collectively drove a 14% increase in passenger revenue. Airlines are actively managing capacity expansion to align supply closely with prevailing demand growth, supporting yield optimization.
