Goldman Sachs published its final update on the June 2026 FTSE Global Equity Index Series rebalancing, utilizing market data through May 29, 2026. The rebalancing will take effect after the market close on June 19, 2026. Goldman Sachs estimates total passive fund flows of approximately $12 billion associated with this event, with roughly $4 billion flowing into emerging markets and $8 billion into developed markets.

A major adjustment involves the inclusion factor for China A-shares within the FTSE Emerging Index, which will increase from 25% to 50%. This change alone is expected to drive approximately $1.5 billion in passive inflows. Overall, emerging market weights will rise by 0.2 percentage points, while the US weight in the FTSE All-World Index will decrease by 0.3 percentage points, moving from 62.5% to 62.2%. Japan and the UK will see minor weight adjustments of positive 0.1 and negative 0.1 percentage points, respectively. Developed European markets will experience a 0.1 percentage point decline.

At the individual stock level, Apple (AAPL) will see a 0.05 percentage point weight increase, generating an estimated $250 million in passive buying. Tencent (0700.HK) is projected to attract $180 million in passive inflows, while Alibaba (BABA) faces roughly $120 million in passive selling due to a 0.02 percentage point weight reduction. Trading volumes for affected securities will likely surge around the effective date, though actual flows may deviate based on tracking fund sizes.
