Kweichow Moutai announced a more market-oriented operational framework on January 13, 2026, aimed at optimizing channel investments and safeguarding distributor profitability. The comprehensive plan includes restructuring its product pyramid by price tier, shifting toward a multi-dimensional sales model encompassing direct sales, distribution, agency, and consignment, and adjusting recommended selling prices (RSP) and ex-factory prices across core SKUs.

The RSP for the 2026 vintage Feitian Moutai remains unchanged at RMB 1,499 per bottle. However, RSPs for 2019 to 2024 vintages have been raised to between RMB 1,909 and RMB 2,659. Conversely, non-standard Moutai SKUs experienced RSP reductions of approximately 20 to 30%, with ex-factory prices cut by 7 to 37%. Goldman Sachs views these adjustments favorably, noting they should stabilize the wholesale price system, boost distributor confidence, and improve supply-demand dynamics.

Goldman Sachs analysts highlight that channel profit margins for premium products like Jingpin and Moutai 15 are approaching 20% following these adjustments. This should accelerate inventory turnover and stimulate restocking demand. However, acknowledging the negative impact of quota reductions and factory price cuts, Goldman Sachs lowered its 2025 to 2027 sales forecasts by 5 to 9%. The bank now projects 2025 sales and net profit to decline 1% and 2% year-over-year, respectively. The 12-month target price was correspondingly reduced from RMB 1,691 to RMB 1,553, though Goldman Sachs maintains its Buy rating on the stock.
